Santa Barbara County Wine Pairing Dinner

April 24, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

$103

Santa Barbara County wine country, made famous by the hit movie ‘Sideways’, exhibits some of the finest examples of cool climate viticulture in California. Cool breezes blowing in off the Pacific Ocean help wines preserve freshness and intense but delicate and elegant aromas evocative of spring. Chef Brian Crow with Chestnut and Robert Novick with Kellogg Selections have prepared a wonderful 5-Course meal and wine pairing experience.

Join us for $103 per person, inclusive of tax and gratuity.

First Course
Crab & Avocado – Jumbo Lump Crab, Tangerine Segments, Radish, Tarragon Vinaigrette

Pairing:
TYLER – SANTA BARBARA
Chardonnay 2015
Winemaker Justin Willett is a proponent of a lighter, fresher, more restrained style of chardonnay, with judicious and minimal use of oak. Fresh citrus and floral flavors.

Second Course
Seared Scallop – BBQ Smoked Pork Belly, Fennel Puree, Grilled Pineapple Salsa, Candied Jalapenos

Pairing:
LIEU DIT – SANTA BARBARA
Chenin Blanc, Santa Ynez Valley 2015
Justin’s other project partners with “focus of the documentary ‘SOMM'” Eric Railsback and concentrates on grapes and styles inspired by France’s cool-climate Loire Valley. Here, the Chenin Blanc grape shines in a wine that is rich and honeyed but with laser focus and precision.

Third Course
Prosciutto & Melon – Lavender Infused Melon, Ridge Blue Cheese, EVOO, Aged Balsamic, Micro Sorrel

Pairing:
LIEU DIT – SANTA BARBARA
Rosé of Pinot Noir 2017
This rose of Pinot Noir brings bright tangerine and mandarin flavors together with lip-smacking acidity and a savory, almost saline tang to balance out the fruit. Embodies the Pacific Ocean air

Fourth Course
Duck Breast – Mushroom Dusted, Goat Cheese Risotto, Cherry Tomatoes, Black Truffles, Red Beet Puree
Pairing: Pinot Noir

Pairing:
WHITCRAFT – SANTA BARBARA
Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara 2015
Drake Whitcraft is a minimalist and naturalistic second generation winemaker. His Pinot Noir has an explosive nose of crushed flower petals and red fruits with an intense and elegant palate on a deceptively light weight frame.

Fifth Course
Blueberry Sage Tart – Purple Carrot Ice Cream, Cinnamon Streusel, Violet Jam
Pairing: Syrah

Pairing:
WHITCRAFT – SANTA BARBARA
Syrah, My Friend Matt’s Vineyard, Los Olivos District 2014
This cool climate interpretation of the Syrah grape has it all – violets, ripe black fruits, roasted meat and minerality all somehow existing in harmony in a single glass. Drake shows his pedigree as the protege of some of the region’s most renowned winemakers.
